English is the basic language of communication and its mastery is
a prerequisite for educational progress. It is the foundation of all
learning which takes place in our school. . It empowers the learner
and is essential for independent learning, world of work and most
aspects of everyday life. Although many of our children come from
a language rich background there are also a significant number who
come from an impoverished one. Because of this the oral language development
programme is of crucial importance and must be focussed on in all
